Finance Minister Sleeps In His Corner During Nations Address

Finance minister of the Republic of Ghana Mr.Ken Ofori Atta was caught on camera dosing off as the President of Ghana,Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo addressed parliament on the state of the nation.

The sessional address which is constitutionally sanctioned and must be delivered in the first meeting of every session of the house as stipulated by the 1992 constitution of Ghana was read by the President today in parliament

Present at the addresss to parliament today were the president of the republic himself and the Vice President accompanied by their wives,the first and second lady.The occasion witnessed profiles of high ranking government officials and leaders of the opposition parties in Ghana that included the IGP,Chief Justice and others.

As has been the norm under the Akuffo Addo administration,the Finance minister who has been under public ridicule for his proposal for the passage of the bill that seeks to tax electronic and mobile banking transactions (E-levy ) was also present.

Surprisingly,Mr.Ken Ofori Atta was seen dozing off at such an important occasion as the President was giving his speech on the state of the nation.The presidents speech took over an hour .Many Ghanaian have therefore criticized the Finance minister on why he was found sleeping at such an eventful occasion .

The finance minister however after rising from his short and relaxing slumber has hinted that the popular and controversial E-levy will start in May.
