“Visionary” Mahama’s Ho Airport Begins Operation – PHOTOS

The Newly Constructed Airport ,Today , 15th April ,2021 welcomed its maiden flight to the city of Volta Region , Ho

The Ho airport Was started under the  John Dramani Mahama administration in 2015

Cutting sod for the commencement of the airport on 19th September ,2015 at Ho , the former NDC president , Mahama said the aviation industry was growing, adding, for instance, that from 700,000 domestic passengers, the number increased to 2.5 million in 2014.

He said the first phase of the Tamale airport expansion project would be completed early the following year

The Ghana Airports Company Limited  financed the project, the first phase of which  costed $25 million

The facility has runway of 1,900 metres in length and 30 metres wide, an aircraft parking area, a terminal building to hold at least 150,000 passengers a year, a VIP and VVIP facility, a parking area for the staff and a nine-kilometre network of roads around the airport.

Hopefully ,Passengers will be able to travel to Accra in a matter of 20 min by air.

Plans are in place to start a pilot training and  aircraft maintenance facility in the area to create job for young people.
